Vision

The department is conscious about the need for upgrading the knowledge related to changing technologies and the host of other emerging developments. It is also aware of the real world consequences of technology development for better society and ability in oral and written communications to succeed in mechanical engineering studies. We have always tried to maintain a harmonious balance between class room teaching and research and this has been generally a unique feature. There are highly accomplished faculty members in the department who teach and conduct topics that form a perfect blend between and emerging subjects.

The department has well equipped laboratories for experimental research; modeling and experiment. The faculty is highly visible through publications in top notch international journals. A number of very bright and creative students are currently enrolled with the department. The vibrant academic atmosphere of the department, amenities and facilities and above all openness, have tremendously impressed and influenced me all through. The emphasis of the department is to bring out an up to date graduate marked by an important common factor-continuous learning

Head of the Department:

We understand the need to keep in step with change while identifying and developing new avenues for research and fostering bright young minds. I would like to take this opportunity to thank our industry partners who have supported us in the past. I look forward to continuing our relationships and engaging with new partners. I hope that you will take this opportunity to interact with the Department. The overall aim of academic development is to improve the teaching and learning experience , and to provide students with the tools they need to succeed. The Department’s academic devel- opment initiative, which has been running, incorporates project-based hands-on activities, like computer literacy, technical reporting, model building and a mentorship programme, where senior students offer support to first- and second-year students. We have exciting and innovative research projects happening across the department. In many of the research areas, there is close collaboration with industry and government departments.

In the current dynamic development of technical disciplines, as well as the establishment of new disciplines within manufacturing, research and development are increasingly faced with the problem of obtaining a sufficient number of well-prepared technically and linguistically proficient skilled graduates – engineers, who must cope with requirements from practice. I take pride in the fact that our highly qualified faculty who are among the most productive in terms of scholarly publications also among the most effective teachers in the college of engineering, this has created both an environment of both graduate and under graduate students are actively engaged in research at the cutting edges mechanical sciences and engineering.
